This Schwabing restaurant need not rely on customers to spread the word (passa parola)! The small bar facing a wood-fired oven and the adjoining dining area are always packed with customers in the mood for Passaparola’s extraordinary pizza dough: a thin pastry that’s smooth in the center and crisp at the rim, with crunchy blisters throughout. The mix of tomato sauce and fresh basil topping is an aromatic delight. The Pizza Pastore with buffalo ricotta and spinach or Pizza Clandestino with fennel salsiccia and leeks are especially refined concoctions. The purist interior with fashionable chandeliers by lighting designer Ingo Maurer—whose workshop is in Passaparola’s backyard—draws an interesting crowd from the city’s long-established intelligentsia.
