Japanese Folk Festival

November 19 & November 20:
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the official friendship between Germany and Japan, the Residence will host two-day festivities introducing to traditions from the Land of the Rising Sun.

On both days of the festival, the Max-Joseph-Saal will host several workshops and exhibits including tea ceremonies, historical ink painting and the presentation of traditional costumes, as well as an ikebana show. The event, taking place from 1 pm to 4 pm each day, will be free. Visitors however, are asked for donations, the proceeds of which will support victims of the earthquake and tsunami catastrophe earlier this year. On the seconed day, the Herkulessaal will also present Japanese folk music and dance performances from 3 pm to 6 pm. Tickets for this event cost € 10 and can be purchased at all presale outlets.
