On the Rocks

On the Rocks Get your skates on and head down to one of Munich’s many ice rinks for some truly traditional winter entertainment. The Eis- und Funsportzentrum has both indoor and outdoor rinks at Staudingerstrasse 17, and an indoor rink only at Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse 241, all of which are open 9:30 am–10 pm, seven days a week. Admission costs € 2 for six- to 18-year olds and € 3 for adults. The Olympia Eissportzentrum holds its public sessions 10 am –noon and 1:30 pm–4 pm Mon.–Sun. and 8 pm–10 pm Tues.–Sun. Admission costs € 3. Temporary open-air rinks can be found at Stachus, where skating is possible until January 29, and at the Munich Airport Visitor Center, which features a rink as part of its Christmas market until December 23. The Prinzregentenstadion, at Prinzregentenstrasse 80, also has an outdoor rink, complete with floodlights and music. It is open 12:30 pm–4 pm Mon., 9 am–1 pm and 7:30 pm–10 pm Tues., 9 am–4 pm Weds., 12:30 pm–4 pm and 7:30 pm–10 pm Thurs., and 9 am–10 pm Fri., Sat. and Sun. Entrance costs € 3.50, or € 2.50 for concessions.
