Sense-ational

The menu features “simple food”, the walls are brightly colored, many surfaces are covered in unusual textiles and there are constantly changing shows with various artists and performances, including video presentations on giant plasma screens. It could be described simply as entertainment for the senses. Expect the unexpected at Nektar, the creation of Guido Kellermann, Tom Breiter and Christian Schottenhamel, a venue inspired by SupperClub, a location in Amsterdam. After entering Nektar via the circular bar, you will discover a series of rooms decorated in styles ranging from 60s flair to retro-futuristic to pure white surroundings. Take off your shoes and make yourself at home. Lounging around the dinner table is not just allowed, it is positively encouraged. You can even get a visit from the house masseur after dessert. Reservations are required if you want to try the five-course menu (€ 40) of simple food without a long wait. After midnight, when the kitchen closes, the atmosphere launches into a relaxing club scene with music and dancing. Open daily at Stubenvollstrasse 1 (behind the Gasteig), from 7 pm, Tel. (089) 459 11 311.
