Century of Science

Century of Science Munich’s most popular museum is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The Deutsches Museum was founded on June 28, 1903, and, since its official opening three years later, in 1906, has been informing and entertaining the public on every subject related to science and technology. To commemorate and celebrate this the Deutsches Museum is putting on a series of events in which the public is invited to take part. On May 10 an exhibition opens in the museum entitled “Die Geschichte des Deutschen Museums” (The History of the German Museum). One day later a procession of historic vehicles will make its way from the museum up to the Theresienhöhe, where a new branch of the museum, Das Verkehrszentrum (The Traffic Center), is to be inaugurated. Finally, on May 17 and 18, aviation fans will have the chance to see a display of historic planes at Germany’s oldest airport, Oberschleissheim.
