Here is a puzzle: where can you buy an
inexpensive saltshaker or an antique tray, have a ride on a merry-go-round and eat grilled fish all in an afternoon? At the Auerdult, of course! This historic fair, which was first held in 1310, occurs three times a year at the Mariahilfplatz, in the city district of Au. Even though it takes place in the heart of the city the fair has a pleasant, almost rural atmosphere with booths selling everything from string to socks and crockery stalls where visitors can choose from hundreds of plates, cups and serving dishes. This year’s autumn fair, also called the Kirchweihdult, will be held from October 19 to 27. For more information visit
