Soon after Morten Harket, Pål Waaktar and Magne Furuholmen — alias A-ha — achieved instant stardom with their 1985 debut hit “Take on Me,” the Norwegian trio became one of pop music’s “one-hit wonders.” Even the female teens, who had catapulted the Scandinavian pretty boys to fame, quickly lost interest. In 1996, having released four follow-up flops, A-ha finally called it quits. Minor Earth, Major Sky marks a second chance for the Euro-crooners. Mature ballads and optimistic melodies make up the new A-ha effort, which is, to their advantage, nothing of interest to the bubble gum set.
