March 2008

Peter Young

Peter Young burst onto the 1960s New York art scene with his neo-impressionistic pointillism and an ironic approach to Minimal Art, in vogue at that time. Despite a promising future, however, he retreated to Arizona in the 1970s and faded from prominence. Just last year, New York’s P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center rediscovered the artist and honored him with a retrospective. Now, Young’s works come to Germany through March 29 in the exhibition “Dot Paintings” at gallery Häusler Contemporary. The show will feature a representative selection from Young’s early fame, as well as pieces from his later years in Arizona, which were also influenced by extensive travel in Mexico and Morocco. The exhibition can be viewed Tuesday to Friday, 11 am to 6 pm, and Saturday, 11 am to 3 pm. <<<
