Into another Dimension

“They’re bright; they’re sharp; they’re clear; there’s no muddiness; there’s no double imaging. The technology now exists to do perfect 3D.” Peter Jackson, director of Lord of the Rings and special effects visionary, was thrilled when he was introduced to the first pictures screened by digital 3D-projectors. In the meantime, this innovative technology has reached a Munich movie theater. Through January, the Forum Kinos at the Deutsches Museum will show The Legend of Beowulf: an English saga directed by Robert Zemeckis, and the first 3D feature-length fiction film. The Legend of Beowulf is a computer-animated adventure film incorporating live acting by Sir Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich and Angelina Jolie. The new 3D technique makes the movie seem to leap out of the theater’s screen, creating the illusion of objects hovering in the auditorium. For a detailed program of screenings, see www.forumkinos.de. Tickets (€ 7.50-8.50) can be ordered at 211 25 200. <<<
