Naturpark Altmühltal
As if the blooms of spring weren’t enough to lure urbanites out to the nature park at Altmühltal, businesses in the area are offering springtime specials to families. More than 30 local guest houses will allow free lodging for children, with some presenting special packages for active vacationers. At the Urlaubsbauernhof Gerstner in Altmannstein-Schamhaupten, for example, a € 440 family package includes guided nature hike, access to a petting zoo, three horse rides, a tractor excursion, bonfire wienie roast, and seven nights’ lodging. San Aktiv Tours is offering a three-day boat tour along the winding Altmuehl River for € 165 per person (children under 3, free; up to age 12, € 117.50).
