Picasso at Bucheim Museum

Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Guernica: even fledgling art fans are familiar with Pablo Picasso’s paintings. Less well-known, however, are the many lithographs, etchings, linoleum cuts and illustrations that he created during his prolific career. Such works are given full attention at the latest exhibition at the Buchheim Museum. Until January 14, the show features a selection of works from Lothar Günther Buchheim’s Picasso collection. Black-and-white photographs of postwar Paris, exhibition posters and calendars set the scene for the master’s works. The exhibition is just another step in Buchheim’s quest to bring modern art closer to the public. The Buchheim Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm. Using public transportation, take the S6 to Tutzing and bus 9614 to LVA Höhenried. A joint ticket covering transportation on the MVV, DB regional trains to Bernried and admission to the museum is available at S- and U-Bahn stations for € 19. <<<
