The Chinese National Circus

An ancient Chinese proverb advises, “When you go to a foreign land, follow the local customs.” Luckily for Munich audiences, the Chinese National Circus plans to forgo that counsel during their visit to Germany this month. On January 4, at 8 pm in the Herkulessaal of the Residenz, the famous troupe will present the Chinese legend of “Mulan” in a performance that combines traditional dance, acrobatics and song. Past shows have focused exclusively on such famous male figures as Genghis Khan, Confucius and Marco Polo. Turning now to the tale of a young girl who disguised herself as a man to fight the Huns, the circus plans to present this national legend with more finesse than Disney did. Tickets are on sale at VVK outlets for € 29–40.20. <<<
