Sugar Babes

Get your kids into the German Christmas spirit with this year’s biscuit baking events. Children can create, decorate and bring home their very own Plätzchen (Christmas cookies) at Café Zimtstern (at Café Rischart, Viktualienmarkt), November 28–December 22, from 1–7 pm. Workshops are free and no reservations are required. Parents are asked to accompany their children. There’s sure to be some sweet competition at artsy gift shop Condo (Pestalozzistrasse 34), where a baking contest for children will take place on Saturday, December 3. Upon registering (see below for details), participants will be given recipes from the children’s cookbook Keks und Krümmel, co-written by American author Ruth Kreider-Stempfle. They will bake the goodies at home and bring them to Condo on the morning of the 3rd, where they will go on display and be judged from 1–4 pm. First and second-place winners will receive copies of Keks und Krümmel and Backen und Bauen, also by Kreider-Stempfle. For registration and baking recipes, call Condo owner Ruth Weller-Malchow, Tel. 26 01 86 66, or simply stop by the shop.
